My beloved
thirteen years old daughter is bringing round 10 books per week from the school
library. Last Friday she informed me PROUDLY that one of her books for coming
weekend is from NON FICTION library section. Thrilled by her announcement I
found "ETHICS. Opposing viewpoints” on her desk. Of course, she didn`t make it
fully last weekend, so I am happy to read it now while Maria is at school,
making her ethical choices, based on Chapters I and II .
So, let’s
start my "Ethics for Maria” lessons: simple and obvious. Wise and impressive.
"In a
letter he wrote at Monticello on May 21, 1816, Thomas Jefferson recommended
this to his young friend Francis Eppes:
Never
suffer a thought to be harbored in your mind which you would not avow openly.
When tempted to do anything in secret sk yourself if you would do it in public.
If you would not, be sure IT IS WRONG.”
